Different!
Those two words came to me when I discovered the brand new Twofer Card Challenge introduced by Darnell this month. One image. Two cards. Two totally different designs.
Well, you know I had to try it, right?
Since the prompt word for the challenge is "feathers", I turned to a retired set by Stampin' Up! called Fine Feathers. The peacock feather in the set gave me some ideas.
For the first card I stamped the feather several times in a circle, always touching the sides. Can you see it? There is a little creature that was simply begging to be created. I coloured the stamped areas using my Stampin' Blends, the Smoky Slate, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. The little creature really began to come to life. Since I only wanted part of the stamped area to show, I created a tree with a hollow from which he could peek out. Perfect! I'm thinking Owl, but it could be anything.
My next card shows off that wonderful feather in all its coloured glory. I used a mixture of Stampin' Blends and Stampin' Markers for the colours. Bright! And so different from the little creature in the other card.
Now Darnell wants the cards photographed together and so here they are.
I hope you'll go over to the Twofer Card Challenge for a look at all the other creations.
Oh how wonderful to see that feathery little creature come to life! He really is darling peeking out of his tree! That is one glorious feather, and you colored it to perfection on your encouragement card. Thanks for joining in on the fun with us at Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I saw owl too, Heidi ... and he's absolutely adorable in his texture-y tree hollow! Those rich colours on the single peacock feather are gorgeous ... and pop so beautifully against all that glorious white! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThis caught me eye on the Twofer challenge - just so clever!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Heidi! You really embraced my suggestion that folks try to use their stamps in unexpected ways!! I prefer to think your little peeking critter in the tree is an owl ~ he is too cute to be anything more sinister! The sediment is perfect! And your CASlicious single feather encouragement card is beautiful in these br and pretty colors! Thank you so much for playing in my Twofer Card Challenge! It's a pleasure to follow you and thank you for following me on both blogs, too! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI love your fun little owl peeking
ReplyDeletefrom within the tree! Your second card
embraces the true colors of a peacock
feather. My aunt and uncle had peacocks on
their farm and they used to bring us “bouquets”
(A vase full) of feathers that we just adored!
Amazing cards.
